Una preposición describe una relación entre otras palabras en una oración. Una preposición en sí misma, como "en", "sobre" o "en", casi no tiene sentido por sí misma. Es por eso que las preposiciones casi siempre se combinan con otras palabras en estructuras llamadas frases preposicionales. ¿Demasiado técnico? ¿Qué tal algunos ejemplos?
- Están en la Iglesia.
- Su casa está en Main Street.
- Vive en Los Ángeles.
Lesson: WHAT ARE PREPOSITIONS
Prepositions are terms that relate to the different elements of a sentence. They can indicate origin, destination, address, place, etc.
Example: I come from London. Here, "from" is the proposition that links in this case the verb (to come) and a proper noun (London)
METHOD TO LEARN ENGLISH PREPOSITIONS
1) Do you know the prepositions? A good idea is to refresh and remember them to familiarize ourselves with their meaning.
(The most common and must know prepositions are in the image below).

2) Study the meaning and placement of each preposition.
3) Associate each of the English prepositions with its equivalent or equivalents in your language. But please note, sometimes there is not a precise relationship. In some cases, the equivalent meaning of the preposition in English will depend on the context in which it is used.
Example:
ABOUT can have different meanings depending on its function in the phrase (place, time or circumstance) (means: about, around, about, by)
This is a book about the universe / It is a book about the universe / There are some papers spread about the room
4) Group the prepositions in English by the concepts of "Time", "Place" and "Direction" or "Movement".
Relevant place prepositions: above (above, above, above), across (across, across, across), along (along), around (around, near, by), against (against, against), at (in), behind (behind, behind), below (below), beneath (under, below), by (next to, next to), close to (near), in (in, inside), in front of (in front of), inside (inside, in), near (near), on (about, in, on top of), upon (about, in, on top of), on top of (above, above, above), opposite (in front of, in front of), outside (outside, outside, outside), over (above, above), round (around, around, by), under (under, under), underneath (under, under).
